Man, 35, fatally shot in chest behind Queens retail strip

A 35-year-old man was shot to death in a lot behind a Queens retail strip early Sunday, police said.
The victim was shot multiple times in the chest behind a row of stores on Beach 20th St. near Cornaga Ave. in Far Rockaway about 3 a.m. Police believe the man was killed after an argument.
Medics took him to Jamaica Hospital but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
No arrests have been made.
It was one of four slayings across four boroughs during a bloody eight-hour stretch. They include the 10:35 p.m. Saturday shooting of a 25-year-old man in the Bronx, the fatal stabbing of a man by his Staten Island housemate at 1:45 a.m. Sunday and a double-shooting in upper Manhattan about 6 a.m. Sunday that left a man dead from a gunshot to the head and a woman hit in her shoulder.
The Queens killing marks the fourth this year in the 101st Precinct, which saw four homicides in all of 2023 — all from a horrific domestic-violence quadruple-murder last December.
