Restaurant inspections amid labour exploitation claims

JOHANNESBURG – The Labour Department is inspecting restaurants across the country.
It follows widespread reports of worker exploitation in the hospitality sector.
On Sunday, the Babel and Ocean Basket restaurants in Menlyn, Tshwane were raided.

It followed a video on social media by an employee.
In it she complained about poor working conditions and staff exploitation at Babel.
The owner and two of his employees have been arrested.
